A
delegation headed by H.E. Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Minister of
Education traveled to Washington D.C. for negotiations on a
development credit for Basic Education Expansion Project that
will start on 22nd August 2000.
Today
August 25, the Minister of Education and Ms. Regina Bendokat,
World Bank team leader, initiated the Development Credit
Agreement in the presence of H.E. the Ambassador of Yemen to
Washington.

The Basic Education Expansion Project
The Basic
Education Expansion Project (BEEP) has been developed between
the Government of Yemen and the World Bank to support the
MOE’s efforts within the overall framework of its strategies.
The project will address the low participation of rural girls
in the first six years of basic education as the most
important sector issue.

Launch Workshop
| Today February
26, 2001 the Project Launch Workshop for the Basic
Education Expansion Project is taking place at Sheratoon
Sana’a. Dr. Abdullatif Almaneefi, Project Director,
declared that the workshop will run for three days, and
that more than 100 persons from the Project four
governorates: Sana’a Amran, Al-Mahweet and Al Dhalea,
will participate in addition to the Ministry of
Education staff working in the project
implementation. |
